I look for topics to teach that address what is coming up for my clients. The most recent one is “fear.” There will always be something to fear. When we have tools we can deal with fear when it arises and move forward rather than shutting down.

This is a six-hour workshop teaching deceptively simple tools to deal with fear. This is a highly experiential workshop helping students to change their approach to life. The teaching materials include lecture, exercises, ready to copy handouts, information about advertising, where to teach, tips for making tapes and a resource page. Advertise and you are ready to teach.

Before even completing the course one student reports that she’s much calmer now and not dropping into fear based thinking when scary things happen in her life. This is an easy class to teach and fill as this topic resonates with people.

As my hypnotherapy class graduated, I couldn’t believe what came out of my mouth.

I was telling my fellow students that I would teach! Who, me??

Let me back up for a minute. When we graduated from hypnotherapy training we asked each other how we planned to build a practice.

Every time I was asked I would say, “I’m going to teach a class.” Then reality would hit. I was afraid to speak to groups. In fact, you, me and one other was a group.

But it was my voice that kept saying it. I even looked behind me to see if someone was there, putting words in my mouth.

I said it so much that I decided that maybe I should listen.

I used self hypnosis to deal with my fears and jumped right in. Sure, I was nervous at first. But I felt more confident with every class that I taught.

Did it build my practice? Absolutely. Students would take my self hypnosis class and then ask, “What else do you teach?” So I would develop another class.

Students asked if I also worked with private clients and booked sessions. Many said, “I wouldn’t have come to you for a private session if I hadn’t taken the class first.”

Bottom line: I was paid to advertise my private practice. Why wait? You can use my field tested material and hit the ground running.

Here is how you can benefit:

Teaching opens doors.  Whether you are just starting your practice or looking for new avenues of income, it’s an easy way to become known in your community and increase your private clientele. I find that many people begin to open up during the class and move from there to private sessions.

From a purely practical standpoint, teaching provides a good income. For example, you can easily charge between $15-20/class hour. The Stress Reduction Workshop is designed to be taught in one 2½ hour session. At $65/student x 10 students your income for that 2½ hours is $650.

I recommend that you limit the size of your class to 10 in order to ensure a quality experience for each student. The Self-Esteem Workshop ($125) is taught in two 2½ sessions. With 10 students your initial income would be approximately $1,250.

Everything you need to teach these workshops is included in this manual: Word for word lecture, ready to copy handouts (with room to add your name and logo), exercises, scripts, information about advertising, tips for making your own tapes, resources for purchasing supplies, ideas on where to teach, and presentation tips.

Don’t be fooled by similar “courses” that are simply a collection of information. I include everything that I have used to teach these workshops.
