Excerpt from the manual

Practical applications
• Fear of flying
• Nervous about job interview
• Blocks to learning

This is often the format for my initial session with a new client. Before we can install new behaviors and responses I have found that it is very helpful to lessen the impact of the negative emotions. This will allow some immediate relief and prepare the way for more in-depth work.

In the example on the previous page we used a feeling of anxiety. The client might have reported feeling anger, sadness, frustration, boredom, nervousness or lethargy. In this initial interview I am listening for the main emotion that keeps them stuck in their old behaviors.

The reason for coming in for hypnotherapy could be weight, fears, lack of ambition, preparing for a job interview, fear of flying, passing an exam… anything really that is blocked by a negative emotion or physical sensation. The key is to listen closely to how they describe their experience.
