Summer is a time for being outdoors, swimming at the beach or in a still, calm lake, basking in the sun and relaxing. But with the advent of Fall, children return to school, the weather changes and, for many, life becomes much busier. The lazy, hazy days of summer are over.

As the leaves begin dropping, nature is signaling a time of letting go; a time of rest and recuperation. It makes sense to allow ourselves to be guided by the natural cycles of nature.Fall colors

So what can we do to prepare for the next season?

1. Learn/practice self hypnosis

2. Attend a yoga class or buy a yoga DVD
Benefit: improves overall health

4. Spend time in nature
Benefit: According to an article in Scientific America, “Just three to five minutes spent looking at views dominated by trees, flowers or water can begin to reduce anger, anxiety and pain and to induce relaxation.”
5. Do something that you love daily.
Benefit: you will realign with the Source within
6. Listen and sing along to uplifting music

Of course, we would benefit from practicing these activities year round but the change of seasons seems like a great time to make at least one small change. When I added singing with a choir to my list of feel good activities, the quality of my life improved immensely.
