In this fast paced world we could all benefit from grounding; in other words, finding a way to slow down and be present. This process helps us to learn about the cycle of give and take. It helps with the art of grounding as well as learning to slow thoughts and actions to a pace that assures completion.

Begin with your favorite induction and deepening…

Focus your thoughts and awareness, now, on the slow-moving Turtle. Let Turtle fill your inner vision and thoughts. (Pause) If you’re feeling alone in your time of need, Turtle is reminding you that you’re not alone–ever.  You are an eternal spirit surrounded by other loving, compassionate spirits. (Pause) Turtle teaches you how to use protection.  Take a moment right now to think of a time when you were bothered by the actions or words of others. Allow your “yes” finger to raise when that time comes to mind. (Pause till finger raises) Now, go inside yourself and honor your feelings. Raise your “yes” finger (or nod your head) again when you’re ready to move on. (Pause)
Think now if you’ve felt attacked in the past. Remember that time now and signal me when it’s clearly in mind.  As you align with Turtle medicine, give a warning snap this time and then notice how you feel. (Pause)
Turtle reminds you to honor the creative source within. Go within right now and identify and honor your creative source. (Pause)
Turtle asks that you ground yourself to the nurturing earth. Find the most effective way to connect with the Earth’s stable, nurturing energy. (Pause)
Turtle also teaches you to observe situations with compassion. Imagine bringing a new level of compassion to yourself and to others. (Pause)
Learning to slow down and not “push the river” is another beneficial message from Turtle. What would happen in your life if you allowed yourself to slow down and develop at your own pace? (Pause)
Listen now for any personal message from Turtle. Raise your “yes” finger (or nod your head) when you’re ready to move on. (Pause)
As you focus on Turtle’s personal message, see and sense how that will manifest in your life today. What changes will it bring to you, emotionally… physically…and mentally…(Pause) If you’d like, please share with me the changes that you are ready to commit to. (Pause) As you verbalize these changes notice that you are now operating from a deeper level of compassion for yourself. (Pause) Congratulations. You are finally recognizing your creative source.

Using Turtle’s Message
An Exercise

List the things that you are grateful for:
    These may be simple things: the flowers in your neighborhood, the cat that curls up in your lap every evening, the fresh scent in the air right after the rain. List as many as you can.

Now, sit quietly and focus on your breath. As your mind quiets, bring each of these items on the list into your heart. From that grateful place, connect with the abundance of simple life pleasures that are available to us all.
