Every new hypnotherapist wonders what to include in the first few sessions. Is age regression good on the first session? Parts therapy? Or do we clear the field with a basic, less threatening technique? It can be daunting to wonder, “Where do I start and where do we go from there?” Clients will pick up that lack of certainty so we need to feel confident. It’s helpful to have a list of content free, non-threatening processes that facilitate change.
Although I was well trained in parts therapy and age regression, I learned that most new clients aren’t ready for deep emotional clearing in as part of their first hypnotic experience. In fact, some would be happy to simply experience hypnosis in the first meeting. It makes sense– they’ve just met you and they don’t know what to expect from hypnosis. Add in a cathartic release and it will put them over the top. It didn’t take me long to shift the way I worked with clients the first few sessions. With this approach, clients can ease into making the desired changes which isn’t threatening to them.
In this workshop you will learn a few excellent field-tested processes for a first session and how to choose the next step. Learn how to identify and build on the subtle changes they report.
